USUI SHIKI RYOHO

What is Reiki? What does Reiki do?

Reiki (ray-kee) means: Universal life force energy. Usui Shiki Ryoho means: The Usui System of Natural Healing. It was named after Dr Mikao Usui the father of modern Reiki (Pictured Above).

Usui Shiki Ryoho is a simple, safe, effective healing system that uses Reiki energy to promote healing on all levels – Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Reiki helps dissolve personal issues and returns the body, mind, emotions, and spirit to their natural perfect state of wellness.

The art of healing with Reiki energy is ancient and has been practiced by many cultures. Reiki is still well known and practiced by millions of people all over the world. Reiki treatments are steadily gaining popularity and becoming available in many hospitals as a compliment to modern medicine.

Reiki is not affiliated in any way with any particular religion, and should be considered compatible with any faith. Reiki is a naturally occurring energy that simply exists, just like electricity, radio waves, radiation, etc. Reiki always “Works” regardless of one’s belief’s.

What can a Reiki session do for me?

We all receive Reiki or “life force energy” all the time. However, sometimes we get out of balance or blocked and cannot receive a sufficient amount of this energy, causing a state of illness that may be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual.

During a Reiki session, a Reiki Practitioner, that has been attuned to Reiki can focus a vast amount of this energy to you, to help clear a blockage and allow the balance to return. Because it works on all levels, in addition to relieving the symptoms of your illness or "dis-ease", Reiki works deeper to heal the cause. You don't have to be ill to benefit from Reiki! Reiki sessions are relaxing and enjoyable.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Deeply relaxing, reduces stress, relieves all types of pain, eases anxiety, restores harmony, accelerates healing, enhances standard medical treatments, strengthens the immune system, cleanses the body of toxins, increases one’s energy, restores balance, clarity and focus, clears negativity, creates a sense of wellbeing, provides comfort for the terminally ill. Reiki is a natural energy. Receiving Reiki is painless and enjoyable. Reiki can do no harm. Anyone can benefit from & enjoy Reiki.

Can I stop seeing my doctor and/or stop taking my medicine once I start receiving Reiki treatments and feel better?

Reiki should be thought more as a compliment to modern medicine, not a replacement. Reiki can help you heal faster, sometimes need less medication, etc; However, you should continue to consult with your Doctor or Primary caregiver to monitor your progress and guide you. Please tell your Doctor that you are receiving Reiki, now a days, more and more doctors are becoming familiar with Reiki and some are even taking classes.

Can the Reiki Practitioner diagnose my illness and prescribe medicines, or natural cures?

NO! The Reiki Practitioner does not diagnose symptoms of illness or disease and does not prescribe medication. If you are sick, please consult your doctor.

Does the Reiki Practitioner guarantee Reiki will help me?

No, Reiki energy will always flow to you during a session, but the Reiki Practitioner is 100% not in control of Reiki or what Reiki energy does, therefore cannot and should not make any guarantees. That being said, Reiki can do no harm, and has a long & extensive history of being very beneficial to millions of people.

What happens during a Reiki session?

After removing your shoes, you will lye on a comfortable Reiki table, face up. You will listen to nice music and just relax. The Reiki Practitioner will place their hands lightly on your body or 1 to 4 inches above you, usually following a set of standard hand positions that are believed to have been developed by Dr. Chujiro Hayashi (the successor of Dr. Usui) to create an organized method of treatment that covers the whole body and organs. The Reiki Energy travels through the practitioner to you. The Reiki session is very pleasant and relaxing. It is not uncommon for the receiver to experience sensations such as soothing heat, tingling, deep peace, or other pleasant feelings ranging from very subtle to very noticeable. That’s it!

Are there any precautions to consider before receiving Reiki?

Reiki can do no harm. There are, however a few circumstances when precaution needs to taken:
-Pacemaker-
Please inform the Reiki Practitioner before the session, if you have a pacemaker or similar device in use. Excessive Reiki Energy can affect certain types of electronic devices and batteries.
-Broken Bone-
If you have a broken bone that has not yet been set properly, Reiki may cause the fracture to heal rapidly but out of alignment. There have been cases where the bone had to be re-broken and then set properly!
-Under to influence-
Reiki is much better when you are sober.
-Prescription Medication/Under a Doctor’s Care-
If you take prescription medications, you may need the dosages adjusted lower if you are receiving Reiki treatments. You should inform your doctor that you are receiving Reiki, and monitor your medication needs. Reiki is compliment, not a replacement for standard medical or emotional treatment.
-Touch Sensitive-
If you have a condition that would cause you to be sensitive to touch such as sunburn, an open wound, or even a migraine headache, Reiki can be transmitted without physically touching.

What happens during a Reiki class?

Classes consist of learning information related to Reiki, discussion, fun exercises, demonstrations, and hands on practice. The student receives a training manual to follow along during the class, and to keep and refer to after the class. Also the student will receive the appropriate attunements for each level. See the “Classes” section for a specific description of each of the three different classes available for Traditional Reiki.

What is an Attunement?

Briefly stated:
The Reiki attunements are ceremonial procedures given by a Reiki Master to a Reiki Student as part of Level One, Level Two or a Master Level class. Attunements permanently change energy fields around the recipient to allow them to channel Reiki energy via a strong connection to the Reiki source.

The Five Principles of Reiki

Three Traditional Reiki Classes

The First Degree – Reiki for self
Level One Reiki is a basic introduction and overview of Reiki, including four attunements which enable you to channel Reiki energy for the rest of your life. You will also be given simple lessons in energy work, demonstrations and “hands-on” practice of a complete Reiki Session.

The Second Degree – Reiki for self and others
Level Two Reiki is an advanced level of study, where a student is taught how to intensify the flow of energy through the use of the Reiki symbols. At this level, the Reiki works faster and at a deeper level. You will receive one more attunement. You will learn how to focus the energy for physical pain, how to focus the energy on the subconscious mind, and how to transmit Reiki energy through time and space. Reiki at this level is a superb healing tool for all levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

The Third Degree – For those who wish to Teach Reiki
Master Level Reiki is for a student that has already accumulated a vast amount of practice and experience in using Reiki for self and others and now goes on to learn the esoteric traditions and rituals which enable the student to work in the highest level of Reiki energy. This comprehensive Teacher’s training is for practitioners who want to teach the gift of healing to others while increasing the strength and knowledge of their own Reiki. The student will be given the final Master attunement. They will then be instructed in how to give the six various attunements for their students and direction how to teach Reiki to others.

Additional Information

It is not necessary to take all three classes. Many people, after completing Level One Reiki, are totally satisfied with the life changing benefits of channeling Reiki, and do not feel the need or “calling” to become a Reiki Practitioner. Many people, after completing Level Two Reiki, are totally satisfied and enjoy channeling Reiki for themselves and others, but do not feel the need or “calling" to teach Reiki to others and never need to take Master Level Reiki classes. Use your intuition to guide you.
